Netizens Stunned With The Sudden Change To Former Martial Artist And Action Star Sammo Hung

Sammo Hung (born 7 January 1952), also known as Hung Kam-bo, is a Hong Kong actor, martial artist, film producer and director.

He came to prominence for his work in many martial arts films and Hong Kong action cinema.



He has been a fight choreographer for other actors such as Jackie Chan.

Hung became one of the pivotal figures in the the 1980s.




Along with other action stars, they  spearheaded the Hong Kong New Wave movement.

This eventually helped reinvent the martial arts genre.



Despite working as a pioneer of the Hong Kong action movies, his global fame slowly faded away as a new generation of movie goers came by.

Unlike Jackie Chan who still remained relatively active, fans from across the world had little or no update at all whatever happened to Sammo.




A few days ago, netizens were stunned with an almost unrecognisable Hung in a recent photo after shedding a ton of weight.

In a photo revealed by Hong Kong singer Alan Tam, 68-year-old Sammo looked noticeably thinner.

In a Weibo post on May 25, Alan uploaded a picture of a lunch gathering with Sammo and other companions, and wrote:

“Big Brother Sammo cooked these few dishes and it’s really delicious.”

Many felt concerned by Sammo’s new look.



His figure came as such a drastic departure from the signature round and chubby image he had for decades

According to reports, they mostly commented on how much weight he lost.

Some even speculated the the former action star he had fallen ill. At his heaviest, he weighed 115kg.



In response to the online buzz, Sammo’s daughter-in-law reportedly clarified it to the media through a phone message.

She told that Sammo is in the peak of health. His weight loss came by as  a result of eating clean.

The kungfu legend’s health has been under the spotlight in recent years.

Fans became worried  after an image of him sitting on a wheelchair became uploaded on social media.



Sources told that Sammo had been bound on a wheelchair for two years. This happened after he underwent a knee operation back in 2017.

Reports also told that his doctors advised him  to lose 18 kg after the procedure.

His issue with his weight even prompted Sammo to had an operation in 2009 for clogged arteries.



He walked across the stage at the Malaysia Golden Global Awards to receive his Lifetime Achievement Award ceremony back in 2019.
