From simple individuals to influential names in various fields make a way to provide assistance to their countrymen.
A group of female inmates from Gumaca, Quezon managed to gave their fair share of help. Despite of their condition, they could find ways to help evacuees in Batangas. Netizen Ella Mae Merilloza uploaded to her Facebook account images of inmates in the Gumaca Jail District wearing face masks.
According to her post, even in the absence of machines, these female inmates persevered in sewing and manufacturing face masks. They will then have these distributed to our fellowmen who are greatly affected by ash fall in Batangas.
The air conditions over the surrounding town recent became compromised after the eruption of the Taal Volcano. She added that their face masks are full of love and care from made from their bare hands.
“Kahit wala tayong makina na pantahi, na kahit sa kabila ng inyong sitwasyon hindi hadlang ang mga rehas upang makapaghatid kayo ng kaunting tulong para sa mga kapatid nating nasa Batangas na dumaranas ng ashfall. Sabi n’yo pa nga mam ang face mask na yan ay niyari na may pagmamahal…”
She added that inmates have made good face masks because they can be washed and reused. This way the Batangueños will be able to use their face masks longer.
“Malaking tulong ito at matagal nila magagamit pagkat ang facemask n’yong gawa ay pwedeng labhan at gamitin muli,”
Ella Mae is proud of her friends. Although they may have their own problems, it did not became a barrier for them to think for the welfare of others.
Ella Mae also thanked her daughter Mykca for providing the material for the inmates to sew face masks.
Many netizens gave their applause and compliments. They are very impressedby the inmates’ actions.
According to them, in times of need like this, everyone should set aside their difference and unites for the common good of those in need.
