A significant portion of our lives is spent in schools. As we grow up, it serves as our auxillary home and our teachers, as our secondary parents. They no doubt play an integral part of our development. There are even some instances that their relationship to students are far more closer compared to what they have with their parents.
In a recent Facebook post, a teacher became emotional after his students surprised him with a birthday gift.
According to a netizen named Michelle Legaspi from San Pedro, Laguna, their teacher, Mr. Cezar Punzalan was so happy that he was brought to tears because of what his students had prepared for him. Punzalan is a teacher from Immaculate Heart of Mary School in San Pedro, Laguna.
His students from Grade 12- Philemon contributed and raised a certain amount of money so they could buy him a brand new pair of shoes for his birtday. The idea came up after the class noticed how their teacher wore the same old, worn and torn shoes everytime he goes to school.
Legaspi also noted how Punzalan tirelessly walked an hour everday on his way to the learning institution to save money for his child which is afflicted with a certain health condition.
“Naiyak ako eh. Teacher ni bunso sa Immac po nag ambag ambag sila kasi medyo naawa kay sir, Sira na yata ang sapatos at may sakit ang anak.”
“Naglalakad lang si sir galing sor magsaysay po pala. One hour makapasok lang sa school nila at makapagturo”
The post, which included a video, showed the heart warming moment when Punzalan walked in to his class and received a box from his students. He can’t help but just cry after opening the box and discovering his gift, a new pair of shoes.
According to his students, the gift of a brand new shoes is just a small thing in comparison to the knowledge and wisdom Punzalan imparts to them within the walls of their classroom.
